Cameron Jones Breaks School & Conference Records
Cameron Jones, a seventh grader, broke school records at the track meet at Stanberry on April 14. Peyton, Cameron's brother, previously held the Long Jump record. Cameron's jump of 17' 6 1/2" in the long jump was good enough to bypass his brother's record of 16'7" set in 2014. A jump of 40' in the triple jump beat Drayson Leeper's jump of 34' 3 1/4 set in 2001.Cameron's 200 m dash time of 26.85, at the HDC Conference meet, broke the school record held by Lincoln Cornett since 1989 who had a time of 27.4. At the Conference meet, Cameron jumped 37'2" to set a new conference record, ousting Logan Jackson of Grundy Co who had jumped 36'7 3/4 ".
The 1600 m Relay Team of Patrick Cowley, Kaden Hodge, Jimmy Nalle, and Carter Crone, with a time of 4:43.25 also broke the school record.This record was broken at the HDC track meet. The record was previously set in 2014 by Peyton Jones, Cole Dilley, Dalton Hobson and Draven Mikes who performed a time of 4:45.00
